From the age of 14 I was fascinated by electronics and chemistry. Back then I had the luxury of being able to set up a small electronics and chemistry laboratory in my children’s room. During this time, a neighbor had showed me his amateur radio station (shack).

I was more than fascinated and impressed by all the devices, antennas, and that you can use them to make contact with people in the wide world. I was also deeply impressed by the morse code capability, and my child’s heart was more than taken by all this technology and the possibilities for handicrafts.

Since then, one of my dreams had been to understand amateur radio and to operate it by myself.

Years later, during my studies, I wanted to take the amateur radio exam, but at these days I just couldn’t find the time to study.

After completing my studies, I started again with a correspondence course, but private matters had absorbed me too much.

About 30 years later, in June 2020, I had to undergo a back operation (classic herniated disc). During my stay in the hospital, I have read a lot about the amateur radio exam on the Internet, and spontaneously, still at the hospital, I have registered at BAKOM for the exam for end of August 2020.
